Top 5: Summer 2018

  1. Relaxation/refresh time: The first I would have to say is going to the cabin for a couple weeks. It has everything I need, including: trees (that block the wind), a path to walk around the lake, a comfy chair on a deck, hardly any mosquitos, books to read, fresh air and tons of family!
  2. Learning: Even though I feel like my brain works overtime from September to June, it is so nice to learn outside the curriculum, and take classes of my choice to expand what I know. I took two courses that I have successfully completed (Indigenous Studies 100 and Political Studies 100). Both were so relevant to education and I could use what I learned in the classroom. They are going towards a Special Visual Arts Degree that I am aiming to be done by the new year (2019).
  3. Growing the Baby: At the start of the summer, my baby belly was tiny and I could feel small movements inside here and there. It is definitely a highlight every single night when I lay down to feel it kicking insanely now. Along with the growing baby, we started setting up a baby room! It is simple, with whites, greys, light colours and an animal theme. I am thankful that we have family who has helped supply this room.
  4. New Grade Prep: Starting in September, I will be teaching grade 7! I have been prepping and making the classroom a warmer environment where I would like to teach and students would enjoy learning. Starting over on a year plan is always a little overwhelming, but I am an organizer, so it was also satisfying finding connections and thinking of new ideas to hook the students in. Change does not have to be so overwhelming with a little bit of prep! Change = a challenge = growth.
  5. Love: MY SISTER GOT MARRIED! I just love a day filled with love.
