SECTION A
Guess where could these two places be in the pictures below?
How do you know?
What is geography? “Geography seeks to understand the nature of place.” (Encyclopedia of Saskatchewan)
Location is essential(very important) to understanding what happens in an area.
SECTION B
Geography looks at many parts of an area to understand it:
Environmental: The land
Economy: What do we produce? Export? Trade?
Social: Socially, what are they people like? Who makes up this province/area?
Political: What do the people believe in politics? Who runs what? What do we have leaders for?
Let’s brainstorm what we know about Saskatchewan’s geography from the above questions. (class discussion)
What do we know about the Atlantic Coast?
SECTION C
Miss Morstad will put you on team Saskatchewan or team Atlantic Coast. After being assigned, follow the directions below.
You want to show-off to the other team what your area of Canada has to show for geography! Think of this as a friendly competition. We will be posting this in the hallway.
YOUR TASK:
- Find three images to print off to represent team SK or team Atlantic Coast. Each image needs to be from a different category talking about geography. (pick three out of the four)
- No two people can have the same image on the team.
- Label them on the back to tell:
- A description of what the picture is in Saskatchewan.
- Label what category it fits in: Environment, economy, social or political.
