Friday Flow: Paragraph Writing

Friday Flow: Write the Date

Pick any season (fall, winter, spring, or summer). What are your favourite indoor/outdoor activities to do during that season?

 

In grade 7, the goal is to create multiple-paragraph writing pieces (minimum of 5 paragraphs in an essay) of at least 500-700 words. So, let’s review what makes a paragraph. Feel free to come back to this every time you write your Friday Flow.

Paragraph Guidelines:

A paragraph always begins with a hook, which is an interesting introduction to your writing piece. It could be a question, fact or simply stating what the paragraph talks about. Follow with 2-3 details, including explanations about these details. A paragraph is usually at least 5 sentences long (can be more). Lastly, close with a summarizing sentence, opinion statement or question to end/conclude the paragraph.

Before Beginning, You Need to Show Me:

1. Which artist you are being inspired from . You need to…
   • Have an example of one of their artworks.
   • Tell me what is inspiring you from their work.
   • Need to know where they are from and 3 facts about them.
2. A sketch of your idea.
3. A list of materials.
